Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Matte Rescue Invisible Finish Mattifying Gel Review

If you’re a combo/oily skinned lady like me, then you’ve probably been looking for something, ANYTHING that will help you keep your skin looking matte…or, at the very least NOT an oil slick. It was with that hope and dream in mind that I tried the Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue Gel. It retails anywhere that sells Benefit (including airport vending machines) for $28USD. For your money you’ll get 1.6oz of this stuff, or you can get the smaller “travel” size of .5oz for $10USD.

As you can see from the pictures it is indeed a clear/cloudy gel, and rubs in smoothly and does not leave a residue..on me. I’ve seen a lot of people that noticed this flaking off throughout the day but I did not notice that. Here is the promise this product makes:

This lightweight, water-based gel reduces shine and absorbs excess surface oil, leaving your complexion with a natural-looking matte finish. It instantly minimizes pores with diamond powder, known for its soft-focus pore-blurring effect. Skin is left feeling clean, smooth, and instantly refreshed.

With that in mind, I picked it up from Sephora and tried it. I used it on my T-zone and on my cheeks for my larger pores to get the promised pore-blurring effect. I patted it into my skin as instructed, then went about my usual beauty routine.

The result? Super greasy oily skin within a few hours. Sadly, this stuff doesn’t work. I guess it might work for people who don’t have such oily skin but for me, it did absolutely nothing. I won’t go as far to say that it made the oil worse, but it certainly didn’t help. I’ve tried this product on a number of occasions hoping changing my beauty routine slightly each time may yield a different result. Sadly, it does not.

Word to the wise, if you don’t need oil control then this may help you with slight shine, otherwise, negative ghost rider…The pattern is full. Skip it and save your money! I rate this product a D-.
