NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer Review

Good morning friends! Today is Monday and what better day to write up a review…lol

Today I’ve got the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer and my review is a good one but mixed….I’ll explain why. This concealer retails for $30USD and comes in a little pot with a twist off (NARS famous rubberized) lid. Here’s what the claim is:

Get high-performance correction with soft-focus blurring. Soft Matte Complete Concealer instantly conceals dark circles, redness, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and acne with a light-diffusing effect that blurs and smooths.

The Soft-Focus Smoothing Complex contains Optimal Diffusion Powder that transforms the look of skin by blurring imperfections with light-diffusing spheres. The formula delivers all-day wear and high coverage that’s non-cakey and won’t settle into fine lines and pores. Enriched with skin caring ingredients, like collagen-boosting peptides and hyaluronic acid, they reduce the appearances of wrinkles and pores by helping skin look plump over time. A cocktail of antioxidants, such as Vitamins A, C, and E deliver daily defense.

I am a firm believer in my shape tape, however once I got the right color, I’ve been using this non stop! Make sure you moisturize first because this can leave textured skin looking quite dry. The finish definitely IS matte and I do find that it creases but no more or less than my shape tape.

Color matching is 100% key when it comes to this stuff. If you don’t get the right color it’s not going to look great. I initially ordered Canelle, it looked awful on me, extremely pink and way too dark (I use concealer under eyes for brightening) In fact I’d say it looked cakey on me and creased really bad. I took it back and swapped it with Vanilla and I’m so glad I did. I reach for this daily and am giving my shape tape a break. You do get less product for more money, so that is kind of shitty, but..It’s NARS and is notoriously more “high end” than Tarte, so it is to be expected. It’s not a huge pot, but a little goes an extremely long way so this may actually last longer than the Shape Tape. I don’t really think this compares at all to my other concealer (NYX and Maybelline Age Rewind) just because the texture is much thicker. It’s definitely a waxy/cream feel. For whatever reason swapping out the colors really seemed to make a difference for me.

I don’t know if the claims are true about it being “good” for your skin but I certainly don’t feel it is damaging anything and it would be excellent if it does have those long term benefits. I definitely like the texture and the color AND the fact I can apply this with my finger (makes a great eyeshadow primer as well!!).

If you have the opportunity to give this one a try I definitely recommend the splurge. I’ve included a photo below of the concealer in action, you can see it actually makes a huge difference in brightening the eye area! It does last all day long on me without rubbing off and I only notice the slightest amount of creasing.
