Hi my little tots! This review has long been in the making thanks to Sephora and their super slow shipping and screwing up my order. That’s besides the point now though. I have the goods and I’m going to give you the shakedown. Today I have four products from the Fenty line.
First up, my favorite….it’s the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in the shade 150. It comes in 1.08oz bottle with a pump applicator for $34USD and can be purchased here. Here’s what it promises:
Finally—the ultimate photo filter in foundation form. Born in 40 boundary-breaking shades, Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation gives skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that easily builds to medium to full coverage. The oil-free formula is made with climate-adaptive technology that’s resistant to sweat and humidity, and won’t clog pores so that wherever you are, it’s going to work on your skin. Best of all, this longwearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on skin—so you always look like you.
My take on it…..holy shit, there are a TON of shades! It’s always so exciting when I can go to the store and try multiple different shades to find my perfect match instead of choosing from 1 of the only 2 that are even relatively close to my skin tone. I did have to try on multiple shades AND I had to let it sit because this foundation DOES oxidize. I suggest swatching it, then walk around with it on for 5 or 10 minutes…..then see if it’s still the right shade (for me it wasn’t) I went from a 170 down to a 150 which happens to be the perfect color for me! This formula is pretty runny but it’s very easily still medium coverage but you can build it to a full. The best part about this foundation is the scent. I know a lot of people don’t like it but I love it. It’s a sort of powdery scent, kind of reminds me of a cabbage patch kids doll (I’m aging myself here, huh??).
The foundation holds up throughout the day and lets minimal shine through on my very oily skin. It didn’t cling anywhere except a couple of areas where I was already extremely dry. It didn’t settle into find lines or crease either. It paired just fine with my Smashbox prime stick too. I did find myself powdering this earlier than I did with the Too Faced Sweet Peach Foundation, but this is such a better color match that I do not care. My skin just looks…nice! It feels extremely light on the skin and is easy to blend out. I used both my clarisonic and my beauty blender and it looked great with either. This is a definite win in my book…Make sure you give it a try if you can! It’s definitely going to be my go to throughout this winter.
Next up, Match Stix Matte Skinstick in the shade Amber. This comes in a .25oz twist up packaging that is also magnetic. It retails for $25USD and can be found here. Here’s what it promises to do:
Meet the magnetized longwear makeup sticks that come together in two light-as-air finishes and a shade lineup to satisfy your every need: MATTE Skinsticks conceal, correct, and contour.
The shade Amber is considered to be their cool contour and I agree, it’s incredibly ashy looking… So much so that I thought it wouldn’t work on me until I swatched it…Once I did that it looked beautiful and I knew it would be perfect on my cool pale skintone! It is matte and is easy to use. It’s extremely easy to blend out and doesn’t fade.
Next up the Gloss Bomb, this comes in a .30oz size for $18USD. It’s cheaper than the cosmic glosses by a dollar but it’s also slightly smaller. The shade is supposed to be a universal lip luminzer and can be found here. Here’s the product description:
This stop-everything, give-it-to-me gloss delivers explosive shine in one perfect rose nude shade handpicked by Rihanna herself: Fenty Glow. We’re talking the unicorn of nudes that looks good on everyone.
One luscious swipe of Gloss Bomb’s XXL wand gives lips more to love, while conditioning shea butter enriches from within. Lips look instantly fuller and smoother. It feels amazing on your lips—with a non-sticky formula that’s super shiny—and has an addictive peach-vanilla scent you just can’t get enough of.
I really liked this one but I’ll tell you the first thing I notice is that it smells more like cherry not peach-vanilla. I love the applicator, it is really big and chunky. The color itself is extremely sheer but it’s still extremely pretty. The glitter isn’t so much that it’s gaudy and it can be worn for every day use. It applies smoothly and feels pretty good on my lips. It lasts a solid few hours without eating or drinking. Definitely a keeper but not a necessary. If you have a clear/pink sparkly lipgloss already…you probably don’t need this and definitely not at this price point.
Last up, I already reviewed one of the cosmic glosses so I’m going to link that here. The only difference here is the shade and this one is just so much prettier! This is in the shade Astro-Naughty and it is simply beautiful. It’s the perfect color, it’s not opaque but not colorless like the gloss bomb. It’s my favorite of the four glosses that came out in this collection and I highly recommend it IF you can get your hands on it!
So that’s it my friends those are the items I’ve tried from the line. In all it’s a success and I really do like the products. The real standout is the foundation. I did skip the galaxy palette for reasons listed in my UD Heavy Metals review , you can find that here.
