Too Faced The Sweet Smell of Christmas Melted Matte set

Hello friends! I got a treat in the mail…Christmas in September! Apparently Christmas comes earlier and earlier every year. Maybe it’s just me but I generally expect holiday sets in October. This year they came in mid September to my surprise and horror. Anyways since I really love the melted mattes I thought I’d pick this up despite none of the shades looking very wearable for a cool toned person such as myself. The set retails for $25USD and can be bought here. It comes with four shades including: Pumpkin Spice, Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon Bear and Hot Buttered Rum.

Hot Buttered Rum and Pumpkin spice are VERY similar so I’m unsure why they were both included. I will say the Pumpkin one has an extremely spicy strong scent. Generally I like the scent of pumpkin spice (not the taste) but this was just too much. Pumpkin spice is less orange than I had expected and is just slightly darker than Hot Buttered Rum. It did wear well consistently for about 6 hours without budging.

Sugar Cookie looked the prettiest in the tube to me and was the one I was the most excited about. For a melted matte the formula on this shade is pretty crappy. It reminded me a lot of Kandee Johnson Freshly Baked. The smell to this one is freaking out of this world yummy, BUT this color is very streaky, patchy and thin.  It did not wear well at all. Within 30 minutes of application I had lines in my lips from where it hadn’t settled and it wore off enough that I ended up needing to remove it before I went out. The color of this shade isn’t completely awful, it just doesn’t apply well.

Cinnamon Bear ended up being my favorite shade, though due to it’s intensity is probably the least wearable shade for every day use. It smells of cinnamon of course but it is not over-powering. It’s a beautiful neutral/warm red, the color does wear well for hours but it is not smudge proof, and it does feather as with most red lippies. I’d recommend using a lip linger with this one.

Hot Buttered Rum, again is just like Pumpkin Spice, it is slightly lighter in shade with a bit more orange. It did last for around 4-5 hours without budging much. The scent on this one is nice too, not over-powering.

Here they are on my lips, you’ll have to excuse the rest of my makeup these were pretty quick swatches.

Overall, this set is a really great value! I have several melted matte mini’s and they last forever!! I will definitely be reaching for Cinnamon Bear and maybe Pumpkin Spice (if I can get over the scent on this one) pretty often this fall
